On October 9, 1939, a group of Ukrainian university graduates met at Wayne State University and founded the Ukrainian Graduates of Detroit and Windsor. The original mission of the organization was two-fold: to promote cultural and social interaction among its members and to encourage students of Ukrainian descent to pursue higher education.
